Wisconsin Gene-A-Rama

Blogging from the Wisconsin Gene-A-Rama, this year in Eau Claire. I heard Maureen A. Taylor, the Photo Detective, speak. She mentioned a number of great photo- and genealogy-related web 2.0 sites that readers might find interesting.
  • SmugMug is a Flickr-type site that includes photo album-type displays for your images, easy transfer of your images from Flickr, and privacy/security options for your images if that is important for you. You can watermark your images and also prevent right-click copying.
  • FotoTagger Write names of the people on photos, identify individual objects on the image, create callouts for accurate reference, add a caption to the whole image, hide tags in a click of a button.
  • SnapGenie Share the stories behind your photos with MyFamily.com's SnapGenie. SnapGenie helps you easily build and share narrated photo slideshows in a matter of minutes. Upload up to 50 photos per show, use a phone to narrate your slide show, publish it and share with family and friends. With the click of a button you are ready to share your SnapGenie show. And it’s free!
  • With VoiceQuilt™ it's easy to show how much everyone cares. Just sign up online and invite your group to call a toll-free number with greetings and memories. Then listen to voice messages online and choose “best hits.” Select a keepsake box that will play the voices, and have it shipped; or choose an electronic VoiceQuilt for free.
